THE SPECIAL Olympics of Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) will be fielding a team of four athletes and two officials at the 2022 United States Special Olympic Games, which will take place in Orlando, Florida from June 5-12.
This is the first time that TT will be participating at the US Special Olympic Games.
The athletes - Alicia Khan, Michele Cooper, Gary James-Boodoo and Isaiah Thomas - will be involved in the sport of bocce.
National director of SOTT, Ferdinand Bibby, said that the athletes have been preparing for the past year and are eager to return to competition after restrictions and cancellations due to the covid19 pandemic. The athletes will compete in bocce singles, doubles and team (four players) competition.
Over 5,500 athletes and coaches from the US and the Caribbean will be involved in the week-long event.
