TRINIDAD AND Tobago were held to a 4-4 draw by Haiti, in an action-packed encounter on Sunday, as Group F action in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship kicked off.
At the Estadio Morazan, San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the Angus Eve-coached TT team led on three occasions, but were unable to get the better of their Haitian opponents.
Nathaniel James put TT ahead after two minutes, before Woodensky Pierre equalised for Haiti, on the half-hour mark. Kaihim Thomas netted TT's second goal, ten minutes later, but Haiti fought back with a pair of items from Steevenson Jeudy, in the 43rd and 53rd minutes.
Substitute Real Gill scored TT's third in the 70th and James got the fourth, two minutes later. However, after 79 minutes of play, the officials were forced to halt the game, for a half-hour, due to a thunderstorm at the venue.
When play resumed, Haiti's Bryan Destin scored from close range to ensure both teams had a share of the points.
TT will play Mexico on Tuesday and Suriname on Thursday, in their remaining Group F fixtures.
