THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF) hosts its Wellness Challenge and Road Safety Awareness ride from West Mall car park, Westmoorings on Sunday from 7 am.
This ride is being held to highlight how important it is to keep healthy and be road safe.
The event also comes on the heels of former sport photographer Anthony Harris' death last Saturday, after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle around the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain. He was 60.
TTCF president Rowena Williams said, 'We want to highlight all these fatalities on the road. It's important to share the roads with cyclists and pedestrians.
'The federation is in solidarity with all the persons who have lost loved ones on the road, but especially cyclists on the road, from a fraternity aspect.
'All these are things we want to come out in solidarity to say we need more done by the police to bring the perpetrators to justice swifter than before.'
The course begins from West Mall, heads east to Trinicty Mall car park then to the finish line at Barakah Grounds, Chaguanas.
Registration is $120 and interested participants can register via a link on TTCF's Facebook page.
