THE Trinidad and Tobago women’s and men’s Under-19 teams finished third and sixth respectively in the 2022 Rugby Americas North (RAN) tournament at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica.
The women’s tournament ended on Saturday and the men’s Under-19 tournament concluded on Sunday.
The TT women lost 10-5 to Jamaica, defeated Dominican Republic 7-0, lost 20-5 to USA South and got past Cayman Islands 25-12.
USA South were crowned women’s champions, Jamaica finished second, TT third, Cayman Islands fourth, Dominican Republic fifth and St Lucia sixth.
The TT Under-19 men had a tough outing losing all their matches to end sixth in the six-team tournament. TT lost 31-0 to USA South, 29-3 to Jamaica, 13-0 to Bermuda and then lost 28-0 to Jamaica again.
In the fifth place playoff, TT lost 15-5 to Cayman Islands.
USA South won the title, Jamaica finished second, Mexico third, Bermuda fourth and Cayman Islands fifth.
