Trinidad and Tobago closed off the 2024 ITF/COTECC Under-12 Team competition with two gold and one silver medal when the curtain fell at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua on July 18.
In the boys’ final, TT’s first team of Sebastian Plummer, Josiah Hills and Favian Dates defeated their second team of Zelig Williams, Ryan Steuart and Abishek Ramdeen 3-0 to take the crown.
Plimmer won the opening singles match 6-1, 6-1; before Hills eased past Steuart 6-0, 6-1 in the other. The lone doubles contest saw Plimmer/Dates better Williams/Ramdeen 7-5, 6-4.
Barbados were third after a 3-0 triumph over Aruba, while Curacao finished fifth courtesy a 3-0 victory over St Lucia. Grenada beat St Kitts and Nevis 2-1 to take seventh spot.
In the girls’ final, TT’s trio of Suri Ramcharan, Makeda Bain and Ysanne Williams trumped Curacao 3-0.
Ramcharan won the opener 6-3, 6-0 against Samjah Wagner, Bain defeated Katherina Brazil 6-1, 6-2 and then partnered with Williams to seal a 6-2, 7-5 doubles win.
St Kitts bettered Aruba 3-0 for third place, St Lucia ousted Barbados 2-0 for fifth and TT’s second team of Samiyah Mohammed, Keyah Roberts and Isabella Rambhajan beat Suriname 2-0 to finish seventh.
