A white Hampton Inn employee has been fired a viral Facebook Live video showed her calling the police on a Black family just for using the hotel’s swimming pool in Williamston, North Carolina.

In a nearly 10-minute clip, a white hotel employee and two Williamston police officers are shown approaching a Black woman who is with her children at the pool.

She then points out that the hotel employee didn’t approach anyone else at the pool demanding they prove they were hotel guests.

Where the nation once believed children were rarely impacted by COVID-19, this mysterious COVID-19 related illness has touched children in every age group beginning with five percent of the cases impacting children under the age of one; 15 percent were between the ages of one and four years; 29 percent of the children are between the ages of five and nine years; 28 percent between 10 and 14 years of age and another 20 percent are between the ages of 15 and 21 years.

Among the cases documented in New York to date, although nearly 70 percent of the state’s total population is White only 25 percent of children diagnosed with the illness are White; while Blacks who are 17 percent of the state’s population account for more than 22 percent of the children impacted by this syndrome.

To date New York shows only nine percent of the children with the syndrome are Latinx and three percent are Asian.

On Monday, the New York Department of Health Commissioner Demetre C. Daskalakis, MD sent a formal alert to health department officials in the 49 other states and is currently leading the national effort to understand and manage this new COVID-19 syndrome.

In addition to New York and California, other states with these Kawasaki-type COVID-19 cases in children include Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington (state), and Washington, D.C.

Social media posts are misinterpreting the results of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report, which found 74% of people in a COVID-19 outbreak were vaccinated, to argue against immunization. But experts say the headline-grabbing statistic is misleading without more context — and doesn't mean that the vaccines don't work.

I am aware that as I write, the biggest hurdle still stands before us – getting to and getting past the eventual Declaration that the PPP/C won our March 02, 2020 elections; that for the next five years the PPP/C will be sitting in the seat of our Government, still-young Irfaan Ali our President and Retired Brigadier Mark Phillips our Prime Minister.

Hanging before us all Guyanese, and particularly the leading members and supporters of our outgoing Coalition Govern-ment, is the question of what further dangerous, destructive detours would they take our people and country through.

Recall also the various thrusts of varying forcefulness to have Mr. Granger sworn in at dawn, as our returning President on the basis of those openly blatant and outrageously fictitious Mingo declarations; the assertions and denials about the “Guyana Dossier” submitted to the USA Government – was it submitted by the Government of Guyana or the APNU+AFC parties in coalition?

We of the PPP and PPP/C and indeed all Guyanese should be forever grateful to the persistent insistence of the Ambassadors of the Western Countries and their Central Governments, former PM Owen Arthur (of Barbados) heading the Common-wealth observers, former PM Bruce Golding (of Jamaica) heading the OAS team, PM Mia Mottley (of Barbados) current Chair of Caricom and a most concerned close neighbour, PM Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago that the Guyanese people and country have so far been spared the travesty of a Mingo declaration.

Acknowledging that I came to the political stage of our country relatively recently (mid 1990) and through a side door opened by Dr. Jagan, the PPP and the PPP/C, and aware that I have no office nor authority to speak for any other but myself, nonetheless I will say for Dr. Jagan, the PPP and the PPP/C, that we will always work our hardest so as to earn the votes of approval of all our citizens, at every elections, regardless of their race, colour, class or creed or region of Guyana.
