THE EDITOR: I want to suggest on this Emancipation Day that African history be taught in all schools in TT as a separate and distinct subject. Let us teach all willing and able to learn it.
The physical chains may have been removed but we continue to be in slavery.
For instance, Oxford Street has not been changed to Kwame Ture Street. How come? Why?
What are the benefits of African history?
* To understand the world from an African perspective.
* To connect and critique various forms of inequality.
* To achieve your personal, professional, academic goals.
It is imperative we emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.
