THE EDITOR: Residents of Greenvale Park, La Horquetta, have been clamouring for the reinstatement of speed humps which existed prior to WASA installing a main sewer line along Sutton Avenue.
Numerous requests were made to Councillor Dr Kerry-Anne Roberts-Kasmally, who also resides in this community. Numerous requests were personally made to MP Foster Cummings during his numerous walkabouts; these have also borne no fruit.
The last time Cummings walked in Greenvale he had administrative personnel in tow. It seems as though the book his admin person had was dumped soon after the walkabout ended.
To no avail, a request was then made to the HDC and this too has fallen through the cracks of hell. It's now years since a couple local elections and one general election and residents on Sutton Avenue are still without these speed humps.
Why do those in authority refuse to be proactive? Are they waiting for a child to lose his/her life due to the frequent drag racing on this residential street?
To those in authority, installing speed humps is not merely a suggestion but a necessity for ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone who calls our neighbourhood home. The longer we delay, the more lives we put at risk.
