The office of the president in South Sudan confirmed a shooting incident in the capital Juba, early Wednesday morning.
A statement signed by press secretary Ateny Wek Ateny said the president was “saddened about the shooting incident that occured in Sherikat, Juba.”
The statement dismissed reports that he was the son of the president, it said he was a distant relative of the president.
“… he is a distant relative of the President, but he was acting alone.
“President Kiir’s son is called Lual Salva Kiir Mayardit who wasn’t involved in the incident.
