In the process of announcing a new way to addressing police brutality, Democrats took a moment of silence, while wearing the kente cloth, to honor George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed by a cop.
The Democrats knelt on one knee for 8 minutes 46 seconds, the length of time the former Minneapolis officer, Derek Chauvin, placed his knee on Floyd’s neck, resulting in his death.
And before the moment of silence began, Pelosi said they were there to honor George Floyd, one of the many blacks who’ve have died in the hands of police officers.
After the silence, Pelosi acknowledged the impact of length of time and what George Floyd experienced before breathing his last.
Regardless of the significance of the legislation, online users criticized the moment of silence because the democrats wore African kente cloth scarves.
