SIX people – five men and one woman – are dead after a shootout with police in Freeport just before midday on August 14.
Details are still sketchy but police sources told Newsday that at about 11.35 am officers of the Criminal Investigations Department in Couva, responding to reports of a robbery at about 6.30 am, went to Razac Trace, Freeport.
When they got there, they were allegedly fired upon.
Police said, in keeping with the TTPS use-of-force policy, officers returned fire, shooting six people in the exchange.
All six were taken to the Couva Health Facility, where they reportedly died.
Police recovered three firearms along with items belonging to the victim of the robbery.
Investigations are continuing.
