Scorchers cool down Leatherback Giants in T10 Blast - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

FIDES LIMITED Scarlet Ibis Scorchers whipped Valini's Drug Mart Leatherback Giants by 13 runs on Sunday, as the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Dream XI T10 Blast continued at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba.

In the second game of Sunday's double-header, the Scorchers posted a score of 88 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 10 overs with Hakeem Mitchell leading the way with 48, off 25 balls, with four fours and three sixes.

In response, the Leatherback Giants were only able to reach 75/1 courtesy of unbeaten knocks from Jahron Alfred (33 off 22 balls with three fours and a six) and opener Kjorn Ottley (26 off 25 balls with three fours).

Earlier on the day, Tiger Tanks Cocrico Cavaliers defeated Soca Kings by five wickets.

Soca Kings posted 113/6 with Jason Mohammed hitting 44, off 22 deliveries, with four fours and three sixes. Shatrughan Rambaran chipped in with 34 (16 balls, three sixes and a four) for Soca Kings while, for Cocrico Cavaliers, Rakesh Maharaj claimed two wickets for 15 runs.

Amir Jangoo struck 27 (18 balls, two fours and a six) and Denesh Ramdin 26 (14 balls, two fours and two sixes) as Cocrico Cavaliers replied with 118/5 off 10 overs. Shiva Sankar was Soca Kings' leading bowler with 2/25.

FIDES LIMITED SCARLET IBIS SCORCHERS 88/7 (10 overs) - Hakeem Mitchell 48 vs VALINI'S DRUG MART LEATHERBACK GIANTS 75/1 (10 overs) - Jahron Alfred 33 not out, Kjorn Ottley 26 not out. Scorchers won by 13 runs.
