Rising temperatures due to record-breaking heat waves in the US could trigger an increase in mental illness for children and adults, with a 2022 study of more than two million Americans finding that extreme heat days were associated with increased rates of mental health-related emergency room visits, according to researchers at the Boston University School of Public Health.
