Trinidad and Tobago Red Force lost half their wickets by lunch on day one of their West Indies Championship fourth-round match against Barbados Pride at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
The Red Force are on a disappointing 56/5 after 26 overs as Barbados fast bowlers cleaned up the top order. Openers Jeremy Solozano (six) and Keagan Simmons (duck) departed early, triggering memories of their batting collapse in the third round against Leeward Islands in the first innings.
Jason Mohammed (12) perished next, caught by Raymond Reifer off pacer Ramon Simmonds. And Darren Bravo's poor form continued out bowled behind his legs by Justin Greaves. He made just eight runs.
Incoming batsman Joshua Da Silva joined Yannic Cariah (13) at the crease but the latter was caught behind by Shane Dowrich off another Greaves delivery. Greaves closed the morning period on 2/14 after five overs. Skipper Imran Khan (five not out) and Da Silva (two not out) hope to repair the Red Force’s shabby innings in the second period. Barbados Pride are the defending champions and sit in pole position in the standings after three rounds. Leewards are second after beating TT last round. TT dropped from first place to third. Trailing in the standings are Guyana, Jamaica and Windwards, respectively.
