Proman cop inaugural Corporate Futsal crown - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

PROMAN scored in the final two minutes of regulation time to edge Central Bank Vaulters 3-2 in the final of the Corporate Futsal Cup held at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua on July 27.

Their title-winning performance saw them cop the $6,000 prize at the inaugural eight-team tournament.

In semi-final one, Proman vaporised the National Gas Company (NGC) team 6-0 while Central Bank rallied back from a two-goal deficit to trump Plipdeco 3-2 in the other semi.

This, after Point Lisas-based companies NGC and Plipdeco advanced as the top two teams from group A while NGC and Central Bank were the best performers in Group B.Futsal Association of TT president Geoffrey Edwards said the one-day tourney was the brainchild of the association’s competitions committee and was implemented as a fundraiser for the Let’s Play Futsal Caravan.

This sport open-house gave Futsal868 another opportunity to promote futsal and build brand identity,” Edwards said.

“The event was a huge success. We are happy to have executed a fun, timely and successful event, as lauded by players, coaches, managers and spectators.

“Initiatives like these are succinctly aligned to our strategic plan, and we commit to facilitating similar activities to these as we commit to increasing awareness and sustained development of futsal.”

The featured eight teams included ASCO Trinidad Limited, EY Trinidad and Tobago, Ministry of Works and Transport Division (PURE Unit), Trinre Insurance and the four semi-finalists.

Each 15-member team included at least two female players.

The Corporate Futsal Cup was powered by Subway, Graphic House, Oasis Purified Water, Turbo Energy Drink, Gatorade, Frutopia, Food Hall, Bermudez Biscuits, Naipaul’s Xtra Foods and SW Touring Ltd.

FATT hosts the second edition on December 1 at the same venue. Interested teams can contact the association via their WhatsApp hotline at 787-7678 or via email at futsaltt@gmail.com.
