The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) has said there will be a service disruption on Wednesday owing to urgent maintenance work on the electricity grid of the Emergency Department building (new wing) of the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH).
A public notice issued on Tuesday night said there would be no afternoon visiting hours at General Surgery, wards four, ten A, and seven, the intensive care unit, and the high dependency unit. The notice added that the elevators will not be in use.
Pharmacy services will also be disrupted but are set to resume at 6.15 pm on Wednesday.
The electrical maintenance work between 4 pm and 6 pm will only affect the new wing.
The notice said operations at other parts of the hospital, including the main building and the teaching hospital, will not be affected.
The SWRHA said it continues to invite its valued patients and clients to contact its customer service centre at 87-SWRHA (877-9742) for any matter relating to healthcare.
