So, when the Coronavirus outbreak began and was hitting communities of color the hardest, the medical director and staff at The Children’s Village took matters into their own hands and developed a plan of action from scratch.
The Children’s Village welcomes youth ages 5 to 21.
When COVID-19 hit, the team at The Children’s Village began taking temperatures multiple times per day, everyone wore masks, and in-person visits were shifted to a virtual platform.
The staff continued to show up for work day in and day out while not always being thought of as “essential workers”.
Early on in the pandemic, the CEO gave a 25% increase in pay to every essential worker who took care of those children who had no where else to turn.
