National Flour Mills (NFM) has brought on three new directors, Joanne Salazar – who was reappointed – and two new directors, Varun Maharaj and Sanjiv Anant Sookoo.
Chairman Nigel Romano shared his expectation of these additions and said he wants to see new perspective, especially with younger people on board. He said both Maharaj and Sookoo are lawyers who can bring a different perspective to the company.
He added, "I think the company is in a good place and we are constantly watching the price of grain with all that is going on in Russia and Ukraine and the impact that has on commodity prices. But so far so good."
Romano also said the company is investing in upgrading NFM's plants and equipment.
The state-owned company reduced its prices by ten per cent in July on all its main retail brands of flour.
