Mary Inez Gibbs Crutchfield, an influential figure in education, civil rights, and politics, passed away on September 16. She was a trailblazer as the first African American woman on the Democratic National Committee and a prominent supporter of President Obama. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, on September 23.
