THE failure of an AC chiller system has forced the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) to be closed to the public until further notice and at least one production has been cancelled.
A press release by the Tourism Ministry on Sunday morning said the management of NAPA apologises as the production The Prophet and The Prostitute – set for Saturday and Sunday – had to be cancelled.
It added that the ministry is "working assiduously" with NAPA's facilities manager to resolve the issue.
It said the producer of the show will "update patrons with any details regarding the show" and that NAPA's management will say when the venue is available to the public again.
IAM productions is the team which was putting on the show.
Asked by Newsday for further information, Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell said the Urban Development Corporation (Udecott), the facility manager, is currently repairing it.
