HOUSTON – As COVID-19 continues to affect our country every second, minute, hour, day, week and month, one might be wondering if you should be wearing a mask.
Harris County mandated everyone to wear a mask from ages 10 and older in public which went into effect on April 27, but Governor Greg Abbott lifted those restrictions.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said violators caught not wearing a mask would be fined $1,000, but Abbott said his orders superseded that, confirming local officials cannot impose penalties on residents who violate rules about wearing masks in public.
“We strongly recommend that everyone wear a mask,” Abbott said at a press conference while announcing his plans for reopening Texas.
