BY KIMBERLY KARIATI RISING hip-hop sensation Mukudzei “Holy Ten” Chifamba on Friday launched his third 12-track album titled Risky Life at Golden Conifer Functions Venue in Mabelreign, Harare. In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style on the sidelines of the launch, Holy Ten said the album’s message was about issues that the society usually avoids. “The album is about risky situations that people do not want to talk about like mental health, gender-based violence, cultural issues, drug abuse and the girl child,” he said. Holy Ten, who had a tough time in getting recognition during the time he started music in 2016, seems to have had an impact on society with his social commentary lyrics. The self-acclaimed leader of the youth, who made a dramatic rise to fame with the track Ndaremerwa released last year, said persistency and hard work were the secrets to his success. “I spent over a year writing these songs. Some of them are from last year with issues that really touched my heart. The Risky Life album is out and finally yours,” he said. Songs on the album are Musazvituma, Sahwira, Time (featuring dancehall chanter Dhadza D), Miss Please, Hanging Nevaskana, Taura Zvinokunetsa, Pandichamuka, Youngest Achieve, Combi Inonanga Mufombi, Machills, Appetite (featuring Anita Jackson) and Wakatuka Amai. Holy Ten has proved to be the most loved local hip-hop artiste, winning two consecutive awards for People’s Choice (2020-21), Best Male, Best Chorus, and Best Verse at the Changamire Hip-Hop awards held a fortnight ago.
