The Gulf City Mall in San Fernando hosted a free Health Fair and Blood Donation Drive.
A media release said, the event held in July was a partnership among Gulf City, the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA), the Rapidfire Kidz Foundation (RKF), and the Naparima College Association of Past Students.
The event saw doctors, dentists, clinical psychologists, nurses, and other health care professionals offering their services to the mall's patrons, absolutely free of charge. Various types of screening and testing were done, and drug-samples were also distributed, the release said.
Head Nurse of the Blood Donation Centre, San Fernando General Hospital, Pauline Thomas-Augustus, said that some 46 persons donated blood to the blood drive. She said that this was a record-high number of donations, of all blood drives done by the SWRHA.
The event was so successful that the organisations hope to make it an annual event.
