Declaring that she is not surprised with the findings of the departmental inquiry into the operations of the Government Industrial School (GIS), child rights advocate Shelly Ross says Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams should be sacked immediately.Additionally, Ross called for the removal of the present board and administration at the GIS, and accused the stakeholders of turning a blind eye to glaring issues of alleged child abuse.“In April this year, Minister Abrahams stated that he had a thorough investigation done by the new board that he appointed and that was headed by Rev Lucille Baird and they found no wrongdoings and no abuse by staff at the GIS,” she said.
