[The Point] Women participation is politics is key in any democratic dispensation. However, the just concluded parliamentary election held in The Gambia has seen low election of women vying as candidates despite women constituting 57℅ of the voting population. 19 out of the 246 candidates were women but only three were elected as National Assembly members.
