ORLANDO, Fla – Courtney Jackson, a rising third-year student at Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law, is the proud recipient of the George C. Young Memorial Legal Writing Award.
Jackson received a plaque and monetary award for writing about professionalism in the legal field.
“As members of the legal community, it is our duty to encourage respect for the law and overcome the negative stigma that is sometimes associated with being a lawyer,” said Jackson.
Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Bob LeBlanc and attorney Mark Horwitz presented awards on behalf of the George C. Young American Inn of Court to one student from Florida A&M University College of Law and one from Barry University School of Law.
The awards were bequeathed to contest recipients by the will of The Honorable George C. Young, Orlando’s first federal judge and the namesake of the Inn.
