Crown Prince is likely to be crowned when racing action resumes today at Santa Rosa Park, Arima for a six-race card.
The feature event will be the penultimate race which is the Independence Cup, a grade one event that will be open to all horses three years old and over travelling 1,800 metres. This very competitive event has a post time of 4.15pm that will see six quality runners facing starter Wayne Campbell.
Champion trainer John O'Brien has sent out three runners in this very highly anticipated race. Of the three entrants, Crown Prince will be piloted by champion rider Nobel Abrego and is expected to be sent off as pre-race favourite. Also in this contest, trainer Ramesh Ramroop will send out Making Headlines. Trainer Lester Alexis will saddle the pair of Cool Cat and Finishing Touch.
Cool Cat who will definitely relish the turf conditions which is expected to give Crown Prince a battle for the top spot.
Another very interesting betting event will be the third contest that has attracted a field of ten runners. In this clash, O'Brien will send out Blinding Lights and Princess Royal. Other runners in the contest that will be looking to take top honours will be Cp Jet coming from the yard of Richard Frederick; Alpha Centauri out of the Harry Singh stables; and Empress Hassan and Davinci Code that will be saddled Lester Alexis, just to name a few.
Post time for the holiday card is slated for 1.30pm.
