The Communications Manager will help develop and implement the Board’s communication strategy under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and the Board. This full-time position is responsible for managing the Board’s website content, drafting press releases and other media outreach (including letters to the editor, opinion editorials, and articles for publication), handling media/press relations and rapid response campaigns, and participating in strategic planning for communications. This individual will interact with the families of the victims of the civil rights cold cases sharing the work of the Board with them. This position requires experience and skills in organizing and leading public meetings, and interacting with the public through use of the full range of media platforms to promote the Board and its mission. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of both digital and traditional communications and media and the platforms used to work with them and the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
