TENIEL Campbell and Jason Costelloe were crowned TT Cycling Federation National Road Championship time trial champions at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, on Saturday.
Campbell of PSL Cycling Club, who made her Olympic debut last year, won the elite women’s time trial event in 33 minutes, 36.66 seconds (33:36.66).
Kanika Paul-Payne of PSL finished second in 44:56.80 and Kezia Roberts also of PSL ended third in 54:59.53.
The men’s elite time trial was more competitive. Triathlete Costelloe, riding unattached, grabbed top spot in 47:16.34.
Tariq Woods (Evolution Cycling Academy) took silver in 47:56.28 and Enrique De Comarmond (Pharmaco Revolution) snatched bronze in 48:24.23.
Woods’s time was fast enough to win the Under-23 men’s time trial title and Roberts won the women’s Under-23 crown.
In the junior men’s time trial, Benjamin Mouttet of Breakaway Cycling Club won gold in 34:38.48 and Nkoro Samuel of Hummingbirds International was second in 38:53.73.
