Burger King Clapham Bulls and Fusionz Boutique Station Hill Cavaliers are through to the next round of the BABA President’s Cup, after winning their quarter final matchups at the Wildey Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.While Bulls pulled away late to beat NSC Combined Schools Tridents 79-70 in a competitive affair, the Cavaliers destroyed Warrens All Stars 93-58 in a lopsided contest.It was a rough start by the Bulls, in the chase for the Derrick Garrett Memorial Trophy, as they fell behind early in the first quarter against the Tridents.Tridents repeatedly attacked the undermanned Bulls, who were without key players Manuel Alleng and Andrew Ifill.The youngsters hit five treys in the opening period and along with dominant play from big man Tristan Yarde, gave Tridents a 25-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter.But Bulls recovered quickly and matched the effort of the their opponents in the second quarter, outscoring them 25-13 as Simeon Maynard scored 10 of his 22 points during that stretch to leave the scores locked at 38 at the half.At one stage, the schoolboys led 48-47 midway through the third quarter, but Bulls used their expertise against their less experienced opponents to end the quarter on a 12-3 run and take a 59-51 advantage into the final quarter.
