Blue House Blazers set the track ablaze at the Springer Memorial School Sports, ending their 13-year wait for success by winning the track and field title at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on Wednesday.They finished comfortably in first place with a points tally of 428.50, ahead of Purple House Titans (315.50) with Yellow House Stinging Bees (297 points) third and Red House Fighting Phoenix (287) ending fourth. Green House Tigers rounded out the standings with 247 points.The victrix ludorum in the junior category was Damicia Coombs of Red House who accumulated 56 points while Purple House’s Kanedra Morgan was the senior victrix ludorum with 51.50 points.Coombs, who attained the most points overall, was the sprint queen in Division Four with a time of 13.08 seconds in the 100 metres. She was also second in the 200m with a time of 32.93 seconds, narrowly defeated by Yellow House’s Taji Best who clocked 32.03 seconds.In the 400m, Coombs had to settle for third in a time of 74.25 seconds, finishing behind Yellow House’s Taji Best and Red House’s Meike DeRoche - both of whom were virtually tied for the top two spots with times of 70.56 seconds and 70.50 seconds respectively.
