Billy Porter gave a brief but poignant introduction to Lil Nas X 's performance at the MTV VMAs on Sunday. "The world wasn't ready for all of this Black boy joy...It's a new day and I'm so thankful to have lived long enough to see it," he said while reflecting on the significance of the artist for the LGBTQ+ community. The crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn roared in unison as Porter euphorically invited Lil Nas X to the stage. The 22-year-old singer then appeared in front of the crowd in a full marching band costume. He also brought along Jack Harlow, who collaborated with the artist on the song “Industry Baby,” according to Glamour. As the pair performed on the VMA stage, Lil Nas X also gave fans a sample of "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)."
