Winston Enterprises Bayland Masters jumped for joy as the Over-40 champions, while Paradise celebrated as kings of the Over-50 category when the Barbados Invitational Masters Football Classic concluded at the National Stadium over the Whitsuntide bank holiday.In front of scores of spectators and participants, the masters rolled back the years with some of Barbados’ legendary players suiting up for the four-day competition which began on Friday and concluded yesterday with a couple of overseas teams participating as well.In the Over-40 showdown, Bayland Masters won the Infinity on the Beach Cup Final 4-3 through an entertaining penalty shootout against La Familia as regular time ended in a goalless stalemate. Captain of Bayland John Hawkesworth was deservingly named Jireh Consultant Inc Most Valuable Player.The lads from Bayland dressed in pink and black also reached the Over-50 final but lost to the Dover-based Paradise side 1-0 compliments of a wonderful goal from Peter Newton who commanded the left-winger during the encounter.
