MAKEDA Bain and Shiloh Walker upset top seeds Christiana Hills and Naomi Mohammed to cop the senior girls' doubles title when the curtains fell on this year's Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua on July 11.
The second-seeded pair battled to a 7-5 win in the first set and then rallied to a 6-2 victory in the second to be crowned champions.
In the boys' equivalent, Guyana's fourth-ranked team of Denzel Luther and Gerald Scotland beat second seeds Deron Dumas and Daniel Rahaman 6-1, 4-6, 10-3 in the tiebreak to lift the trophy.
Jayden Mitchell emerged 2024 boys' U18 singles champion as he forced Dumas to accept another silver medal. Mitchell won 6-3, 6-0.
Lilly Mohammed prevented Bain from capturing her second title as the former battled to the end to churn out a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 result to cop the senior girls' singles trophy.
Guyanese Nathan De Nobrega earned the boys' U14 singles title as he disposed of second seed St Lucian Denney Estava 6-0, 6-0 in the final.
Nobrega went on to capture a double-crown as, ironically, he and Estava trumped TT pair Jack Brown and Christopher Khan 6-3, 6-3 in the boys' U14 doubles final.
