Mbanza Kongo — At least 192 heads of cattle have died of an unidentified disease that broke out early this month on the Kinkanka farm located in the municipality of Nzeto, northern Zaire province.
The cattle affected by disease are part of 291 batch recently acquired by the managers of this farm, as part of the restocking of cattle imported by the Angola from Chad.
The Municipal director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Silva António Garcia, who was speaking to ANGOP Thursday, mentioned the tsetse fly (vector of sleeping sickness) in the locality, the quality of vegetation and water consumed by the animals as the likely causes of death of the animals in the region.
He said that a Multi-sector Commission, made up of experts of the veterinary services, criminal investigation and of the health, has been set up to investigate the causes of the death of the cattle in that fishing village of the province of Zaire.
The Kinkanka farm, which is located 51 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Nzeto, also raises cattle and goats as well as production of bananas, oranges and eggplants.
