Saurimo — The governor of eastern Lunda Sul province Daniel Neto Wednesday encouraged farmers in the region to increase production in order to increase incomes and guarantee the subsistence of families, as well as the diversification of the economy, through agriculture.
The governor was speaking during a working visit to the agricultural farms of Chilala, Armindo Moreira and Kazua, to assess the degree of production, as well as the basic social conditions of the residents.
On the occasion, he stressed that the promotion of agricultural production helps to make the region self-sufficient food and contributes to the materialisation of the programme to fight hunger and poverty.
The governor informed that the Provincial Government of Lunda Sul will continue to create support policies for farmers, with agricultural inputs to increase production and the success of activity in the region.
Daniel Neto urged farmers to increase production above 150 tonnes of various products, allowing enough food for the capital (Saurimo), which is the main consumer of the province.
