Huambo — Cuban experts in the province of Huambo this Saturday assured their engagement in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
These statements were made by Olga Marlene, head of the team of Cuban doctors, during the symbolic act of presentation of the delegation, made up of 13 specialists, in areas such as general and family medicine, radiology, intensivists and neurologists, who next Monday begin their work in the 11 municipalities that make up Huambo province.
She also expressed interest in passing on their experience in general and family medicine to Angolan professionals.
On the occasion, the local governor, Joana Lina, who chaired the symbolic act acknowledged that Angola/Cuba have a long history in common, both in good and bad times, because they know the real value of solidarity.
The Health System in the province of Huambo has 249 health units, in a universe of 2,126 beds in various wards and 14 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where 308 doctors, 3,639 nurses, 467 diagnosis technicians and therapists work, as well as 825 administrative staff, in addition to other professionals indispensable for its normal functioning.
