December 10, 2024 (OMDURMAN) — At least 65 people were killed and dozens wounded Tuesday in the heaviest artillery shelling yet by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on civilian areas north of Omdurman, officials said. The RSF continued to target crowded markets, medical facilities and other service areas in the Karari locality, which the Sudanese Armed Forces control. The RSF used heavy artillery and drones in the attacks. The shelling of Karari neighbourhood came hours after a series of airstrikes by the army on RSF-controlled sites in Darfur, Khartoum and Al Jzirah that killed more than 100 people and wounded dozens. A statement issued by the Khartoum state government said the “terrorist militia,” referring to the RSF, “committed the largest human massacre by shelling civilians in Karari locality, killing more than 65 and wounding hundreds.” The shelling hit a public transportation station in the 17th district, where a shell struck a public vehicle, killing everyone inside. The shelling also hit the Sabreen market and neighbouring districts.
