Police are investigating an incident in which a 35-year-old Morvant man was chased and shot by gunmen on Tuesday afternoon.

They said the man was liming with a friend at a shop on Valley Road, Morvant, at around 5.20 pm, when they heard gunshots and ran away.

The man ran to a nearby yard, but fell as gunmen shot him several times.

The man's 48-year-old friend was shot once in his right leg.

Residents heard the gunshots and took both men to the hospital where they remained up to Wednesday morning.

Police from the Morvant CID and the North Eastern Division Intelligence Unit are continuing enquiries.
