The CEO of Twitter and Square, Jack Dorsey, announced that Juneteenth is going to be a company holiday for its U.S. employees, beginning this year.
“Both Twitter and Square are making #Juneteenth (June 19) a company holiday in the U.S., forevermore.
Companies like Nike have also announced plans to make Juneteenth a company holiday, on top of supporting their black employees.
Vox media is also going to include Juneteenth in its company holidays, as well as start a new fellowship program for black journalists.
“Vox Media will observe Juneteenth as a company holiday and is launching a fellowship program focused on HBCUs and members of NABJ,” CEO Jim Bankoff said in a company memo.
