Tobago man shot dead on Turtle Beach - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

A Tobago man was shot dead on Turtle Beach, Black Rock, on March 25.

He has been identified as Vernardo George, of Pembroke. George was said to be an employee of Glencon Ltd.

According to reports, George was having lunch in a van with a colleague when four masked gunmen walked up and opened fire on him. He died on the spot.

He is Tobago’s third murder victim for 2025.

A video on social media showed George’s body slumped in the van.

An eyewitness could be heard saying, “This is not no joke thing. A man dead in the van. A man now come and kill the man on Turtle Beach. The man rock back taking he lunch hour and the youth man and them walk past we and watch we in we face. The youth man gone on he side (of the van) and open it (fire) on the man. Is not no joke thing, serious thing.”

Investigations are continuing.
