She Wins Reelection

Pittman Defeats her Opponent State Rep. Ajay Pittman State Rep. Ajay Pittman (Dem., Oklahoma City) won her reelection bid Tuesday night, defeating her challenger Susan Porter in the Democratic primary. State Rep. Pittman garnered 2,833 votes (51.9 percent) to Miss Porter’s 2,620 votes (48.1 percent). “I am overjoyed,” State Rep. Pittman commented once she knew she had won a second term to represent State House District 99. “I am ecstatic that our community had continued faith in us and our work, both locally and nationally,” she said.  “I’m excited to continue the legacy of leadership that I started in my community to move it forward.” State Rep. has held town hall meetings to discuss issues she believes important to her constituents and had spoken out against the governor’s “senseless reopening” the economy even as coronavirus cases were increasing in the state. The young representative said the next legislative session, which begins in February, will be different due to the coronavirus pandemic.  She said she hopes to retain her seat on the State House Public Health Committee, and wants to continue working on criminal justice reform and “find common ground” with other members of the Legislature when working on bills designed to combat police brutality. Despite her loss, Miss Porter said she isn’t done working for the residents of State House District 99. “I put my heart and soul into this campaign,” she said, “and I worked very hard and connected with so many voters.”
