Robert C. Hayden has been the leading researcher and writer of Boston African-American history for over 20 years. From 1974-1983 he wrote a weekly column entitled 'Boston's Black History' forThe Bay State Banner newspaper. His other works includeFaith, Culture and Leadership: A History of the Black Church in Boston; Boston's NAACP History - 1910 to 1982; the African Meeting House in Boston: A Celebration of History; Singing for All People; Roland Hayes - A Biography; and A History of METCO: Suburban Education for Boston's Urban Student (co-authored with Ruth M. Batson). Hayden is known nationally for his books entitledSeven Black American Scientists, Eight Black American Inventors, andNine Black American Doctors.
