Rawle’s community engagement includes past or present service on several boards and commissions, including: the Holy Cross Health Foundation of Maryland; the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust; the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging; the DC Access to Justice Commission; the Bar Association of the District of Columbia and its Foundation; and the National Public Policy Committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

He also authored a book review on the American Bar Association’s “Legal Guide for Americans over 50” and he is a chapter author of the “Michigan Law of Damages and Other Remedies” (ICLE 3rd ed.

Rawle earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Howard University School of Law in 1990, where he was a member of the Howard Law Journal, and his BA in Psychology from Texas Southern University in 1987.

Rawle is an active member of the District of Columbia Bar; the American Bar Association; the National Bar Association; the Washington Bar Association; the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (voluntary bar); and a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

His awards and recognition include, among others, the 2017 Kobak Award by the NY County Lawyer’s Association for Best CLE Program (Boomer Law/Elder Abuse); 2016 Decatur W. Trotter National Humanitarian Award by the National Association of Black Veterans (NABVETS); the 2015 Pillar of the Province Award by the Eastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; the Leadership Maryland Class of 2011; the D.C. Bar’s 2010 Best Bar Project Award (Strategic Planning Committee); and the D.C. Bar’s 2006 Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award.
