October 8, 2024 (EL OBEID) - At least 20 people were killed and others wounded in an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Tuesday on the village of Al-Damukiya, east of Khor Taqat area in Shikan locality, in the countryside of El Obeid, North Kordofan state. An eyewitness from Al-Damukiya told Sudan Tribune that the RSF attacked the village on Monday evening using 30 motorcycles. The attack resulted in the death of 20 people and the injury of 22 others, including elderly people and children, who were transferred to the El Obeid Hospital for treatment. In the wake of these tragic events, several volunteers launched appeals on social media to collect donations to cover the costs of necessary surgeries for the injured. The eyewitness added that the RSF has been attacking villages around El Obeid in recent weeks, noting that some villages resort to mobilizing armed residents to protect themselves from the attacks, which primarily aim to loot livestock and vehicles.
