This week, many change.org petitions have surfaced online, advocating for the white supremacist hate group to be categorized as terrorists.

One of the petitions demanding the listing of KKK as a terrorist group attracted over 100,000 signatures before closing.

Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims,” reads a description on the Change KKK status into Terrorist Organization petition.

“We ask if ISIS or ISIL is labeled a terrorist group for their acts, then surely the KKK fit the clear description of a terrorist.”

The petition that has attracted thousands of signatures gained momentum after reports revealed that the man who drove into a crowd of George Floyd protesters in Virginia was a KKK leader.
