Le 18 mai 2018 n’est pas passé inaperçu, même quand il n’y a pas eu la traditionnelle commémoration coutumière à l’Arcahaie, berceau du drapeau. La 218e célébration du bicolore a eu lieu sans vraie émotion patriotique : tout juste un simple dépôt d’une gerbe de fleurs à l’hôtel de la patrie au Champs-de-Mars par Jovenel Moise accompagné de son épouse, Martine Moïse, du premier ministre a.i Claude Joseph, et de plusieurs autres ministres du gouvernement.
