Nairobi — For up to a maximum of the next three months, each Kenyan Premier League player is set to receive a token of Sh10,000 as part of a Sh20mn COVID-19 stimulus package from the Sports Fund, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has announced.

The CS says they have a verified list of players from each club who will be entitled to receive the amount to help cushion them from the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We will begin with KPL players because of the distress they are going through and then continue from there.

Last month, betting form Betika gave a stimulus of Sh5,000 to each KPL player.

CS Amina has also stated that from next week, they will begin distributing food packages to more sportsmen in distress.
