Hibiscus crowned T10 women’s champions - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

HIBISCUS were crowned the champions of the TT Women's Cricket Association T10 tournament, on Sunday.

Hibiscus defeated Phoenix by nine wickets in the final at Gilbert Park in California in a match which featured many national cricketers.

Phoenix scored 77/5 in ten overs with West Indies women's cricketer Britney Cooper hitting 33 off 17 deliveries with four fours and Shenelle Lord contributing 16.

Lee Ann Kirby was the chief destroyer for Hibiscus snatching 2/13 in two overs and Kirbyina Alexander grabbed 1/22 in two overs.

In reply, Rachel Vincent's 30 not out and Kirby's unbeaten 24 propelled Hibiscus to 78/1 in eight overs which sealed the win and the title.

Leandra Ramdeen was the lone wicket-taker for Phoenix taking 1/13 in her two overs.

Individual prizes were awarded to the top players in the tournament.
