David "Yaya" McAtee was shot and killed in the parking lot where he set up his barbeque pop-up restaurant.

McAtee was shot by the police during their attempt to break up a crowd, as Blavity previously reported.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, his body remained on the ground for over 12 hours as police investigated the shooting.

McAtee was 53 years old and was known for offering free meals to police officers who stopped by.
